This American based Pharmacy benefits manager needed a system to review and resolve prescription protocols (i.e., drug utilization review (DUR), managed care, physician calls, clinical issues, etc.) so that all QRx and Alpha pharmacies and Therapeutic Resource Centre's(TRC) utilize a consistent and efficient application.

Client: A Major North American Pharmacy.

Company Overview: Client is a leading pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), with the nation's largest mail order pharmacy operations. Through advanced pharmacy, client improves the health and lowers the total cost of care for clients and their members. Helping to ensure that millions of Americans have access to affordable, high-quality prescription healthcare.

Business Need: Therapeutic Resource Centre (TRC) is part of the larger Clinical Strategy initiative. The Clinical Strategy initiative requires pharmacist specialists to view and interpret a patient's prescription history, health conditions, drug allergies and clinical opportunity data. This comprehensive review will enable the pharmacists to make more educated physician interventions, which is expected to reduce unnecessary utilization and result in more appropriate prescribing. The TRC concept requires pharmacist specialists (located in the disease specific TRCs) to be able to receive prescriptions for certain disease states from any other front-end pharmacy. This initiative will create the ability to route prescription images across all QRx and Alpha pharmacies to the appropriate TRC.

This initiative will also enhance the systems used to review and resolve prescription protocols (i.e., drug utilization review (DUR), managed care, physician calls, clinical issues, etc.) so that all QRx and Alpha pharmacies and TRCs utilize a consistent and efficient application. This new web-based protocol system is expected to create pharmacist and technician operational efficiencies. The TRC product is expected to increase mail penetration and margin by increasing client acceptance of plan design changes and programs that promote the mail channel and new TRC specific programs. They also want to adopt Agile methodology where the delivery of working software is in short period of time. Each iteration is regarded as an entire software project, including planning, requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation. Improvement or addition of new functionality takes place within next iteration.

Solution: Agile projects do not necessarily have comprehensive documentation, Product requirements in Agile projects are often captured in the form of user stories. The STAT9 Technologies QA team was smart enough in analyzing and defining the testing requirements in the absence of any product documentation. Worked side-by-side with the developers, analysts and customers which is an important part in quickly understanding the test requirements. Performing exploratory testing at various stages of the life cycle. The testing team was well trained to scope the work, ask the right questions, and deliver a valuable output within a few hours.

Exploratory testing is done to analyze a product, think critically to evaluate risks and craft test cases that systematically explore the product. Worked in conjunction with the development team, develop an automation framework that fits the unique requirements of the project. We have automated tool QTP and automated tests around the application which enabled rapid iterations ultimately resulting in a bug free user friendly functional software.

This Global Pharma Major is doing one of the biggest SAP implementation in the Life Sciences sector and needed Stat9 Technologies  help to design and develop a SAP Infrastructure Strategy. Fortune Global Pharma company implements SAP

Client: Global Pharma Major in the world with operations in around 140 countries.

Business Need: SAP implementation - Client wants to implement SAP because they are doing more complex business and they want to switch to SAP from the existing ERP solution. Keeping the implementation cost to the minimum they need a partner to help with the SAP implementation.

SAP monitoring (Basis administration & production support).

The Client is running around 60 SAP instances and has their SAP instances at multiple locations globally. Because they have a complex environment, administration and supporting their SAP instances is a huge financial challenge and to get the pool of trained SAP resources. Since the client is a pharmaceutical company they have Validation environments (FDA regulations) and to do development and to support these environments they didn’t have a well defined process.

Solution: SAP implementation - Since this was an one of the biggest SAP implementation for the pharma industry STAT9 Technologies along with its SAP implementation partners provided 6 phase solution for the SAP implementation namely Project Preparation Phase, Business Blueprint Phase, Realization Phase, Final Preparation Phase, Go Live and Support Phase and Post go-Live Support phase. Most of the SAP instance installations were done by KCS SAP basis team. Production and Quality SAP environments were installed on High Availability Cluster.

SAP monitoring (Basis administration & production support).

KCS configured the centralized monitoring tools for both ABAP and Java within SAP so that administrators can monitor all the SAP instances from one single SAP system. KCS has defined the development and support process and procedures according to the FDA regulations. These procedures were well defined SLA’s for various support operations. Established a support cell around the clock for production support.

Following tools were implemented to proactively monitor the SAP instances in order to minimize and prevent any possible downtime.
• SAP R/3 monitoring tools ( CCMS and Solution manager diagnostics)
• Automated scripts to monitor the processes and components at the operating system level.
• Dedicated exchange mail box for all Alerts and calls
• Mercury tool for testing purpose
• CRM tool for ticketing

Benefits:
SAP implementation was completed within a year following the FDA regulations for the validated environments, all processes were documented. On-time and On-budget completion of deliverables resulted in the project Go live as proposed and planned. Implementing centralized monitoring tools has helped to support this complex SAP landscape effectively; proactive monitoring and maintaining the well trained SAP technical resource pool resulted in the reduction of downtime.
